A vibrant, friendly youth hostel in the Centre of London is looking for a Sales Assistant General Manager to work alongside with the other Assistant General Manager and report to the General Manager. The role of the Assistant General Manager is to ensure effective smooth running of Hostel, maximising daily occupancy rates and securing advanced bookings. The Assistant GM must ensure that guests receive a high quality level of services including, ease of making a booking, a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, extremely clean facilities, secure and comfortable stay, advice on how to have a fun time in DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (briefly): Personnel & Training · Ensure that HODs (Heads of Departments) reporting to you recruit and manage staff as required. · Liaise with HODs regarding all activities, training sessions · Follow up on HODs who have made mistakes to ensure these do not continue to happen. · Handhold new starters · Appraise HODs · Keep good discipline within the team, whilst ensuring everyone gets fairly treated · Ensure either directly or via the HODs that we provide excellent customer service by training staff to respond quickly and efficiently to all reservation/phone/group enquiries. · Ensure that HODs have accurate rotas. · Ensure staff are all given appropriate training and informed of the rules and regulations of the building Sales & Marketing · Create a positive & fun environment to work in. · Ensure the standards of work expected are being achieved, thereby maximising sales, revenue and customer satisfaction · To come up with as many new ideas as possible based on your experiences to improve the overall running of Hostel. · To assist Reservation Manager in the smooth running of group reservations, taking bookings wherever necessary. · Increase revenue potential. · Create specials, packages or changes when necessary. · Check all rates for web allocation, in house, telephone... are always the correct ones. · Check competitors’ rates and suggest change of rates to Front of House Manager. Accounts & Budgets · Aid Bookkeeper in checking invoices before they are sent out to clients. · To control purchasing and stock control aiding the GM to meet budget. · To achieve monthly Manager target · Investigate any erroneous payments or discrepancies entered into Charts. · Investigate any rates errors from the night audit · Ensure refunds are monitored and steps taken to avoid for more refund to be given Admin · Communicate clearly at all time. Communication is key in management. Minutes should be taken from all meetings and emailed to GM · Undertake ‘ad hoc’ duties to provide administrative/secretarial support as required. · Complete relevant paperwork and reports accurately. Input details into the database with a high degree of accuracy, and provide accounts with accurate data. PERSON SPECIFICATION: Qualifications & skills: Essential:
